Knowing the weight of your material can be important when planning any project. Listed below are formulas to some of the most common types of metal products. The density has already been provided below; however, you can find additional densities for other materials listed on our Density Factors resource page.

Steel:

Lbs. per lineal inch = D2 x .2224
Aluminum:
Lbs. per lineal foot = D2 x .924
Lbs. per lineal inch = D2 x .077
FLATS
Steel:
Lbs. per lineal foot = A x B x 3.40
Lbs. per lineal inch = A x B x .2833
Aluminum:
Lbs. per lineal foot = A x B x 1.20
Lbs. per lineal inch = A x B x .10
SQUARES
Steel:
